Winter Solstice Kundalini and Gong Bath

For this region, it's wintry, dark, and mysterious. It's the shortest day and the longest night, yet it's full of light and promise. Before Solstice the nights grow longer, the weather grows colder, and we move from Fall to Winter. The growing season has ended and it's time to rest, go inside turn on the lights, and plan for the future. Energetically, it's much the same.

Depending on where you are from in the world, there are many stories about the significance of this time of year. Simply, this is a time to take advantage of the dark. To focus inward and discover the ways in which we can turn out what is decayed and no longer needed, like compost, so we can create fertile ground for the return of the sun and what we can nurture into life as the suns rays grow stronger. We can illuminate what hides in our shadow, and warm the seeds of creativity and growth within.

This Winter Solstice we are holding a special class to honor this special time of year. Embracing this particular energy that is powerfully healing, Katy will teach a Kundalini Kriya, followed by Vani for a Gong Bath. Through movement, breath, and meditation we can find our way deep within. On the vibrations of the gong we can open our minds and focus on what we want to nurture, bringing out the parts of ourselves that need to find the light and the warmth of the returning sun, to heal, to grow, and to thrive.

Please dress comfortably, and in layers, for both yoga and then laying down for gong. We recommend bringing your own mat and blankets, however we do have some we can lend to participants. Bring your water bottle to remain hydrated during Kundalini and stay for tea and community after the event.
